As the top Republican on the Committee on Environment and Public Works and the lead Republican Senate conferee on the conference committee for WRRDA, I agree with his understanding and interpretation of the language in section 1051 of the WRRDA conference report. This bill contains roughly $12.3 billion in additional authorized spending for a variety of water projects that fall under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers civil works division. This bill supports the construction and maintenance of many of our Nation's dams, levees, harbors, ports, and river ways to name a few. For being such an important bill, the American people may wonder why the last time Congress passed a WRDA law was 7 years ago in 2007.…”
