“while I rise in opposition to the Markey- Johnson amendment, I appreciate the Committee on Rules making it in order that we can have a good debate on this very important issue. As a former member of the House Committee on Resources, I had an opportunity to visit ANWR. I also had an opportunity to visit the current production facilities down at Prudhoe Bay. Where does the gasoline come from that fuels your cars that you came to work in today? Where does the natural gas come from that heats our home on those cold days? It reminds me of a little adage that we have in Louisiana: gasoline is like boudin.…”
