“I want to applaud the gentleman from Colorado for bringing this bill to the floor. I wholeheartedly support H.R. 6 for a number of reasons. I also want to address some of the issues that the gentleman from the other side raised. We need to take care of our own energy security here, and we can provide energy security for our partners--our trading partners--around the world. This is why we need to move forward on this. It is clear that, over the last 2 years, the U.S. Department of Energy has raised its long-term forecast on gas production by nearly 40 percent, with price expectations having declined 15 percent over the same period. So the point that the gentleman makes about price spikes because of LNG exports is really, really unfounded--an unfounded point.…”
