I voted to confirm Kennedy only after intense conversations that included Kennedy’s promise to maintain the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ recommendations without changes.
If the meeting proceeds, any recommendations made should be rejected as lacking legitimacy given the seriousness of the allegations and the current turmoil in CDC leadership.
If the ACIP meeting today is being used to sow distrust, I would ask, as you go forward, that you make sure that there really is a balanced perspective.
The wholesale firing and replacement of ACIP members is a blatantly political act that will undermine scientific impartiality and integrity, not promote it.
