This amendment would have the effect of including rescissions in this bill that were already approved by the House last November. The origin of these rescissions is H.R. 3511, that was reported by the Committee on Appropriations last November. The amount of these specific rescissions is $2.5 billion in nearly all areas of Government. We recommended them to the House at that time, and we do so again. Including these rescissions in this bill will help move action in deficit reduction along. We will be able to conference these rescissions with the Senate and include them in this emergency bill that needs to be enacted quickly. I urge adoption of this amendment.
