I thank the gentleman. I do appreciate the sentiments of the gentleman who offered the amendment. As I said earlier in our debate this evening, it is very hard at times to measure progress in Afghanistan, but I would agree with the chairman that after the sacrifice that has been expended--we are towards the end--we ought to give them a chance to stand on their own and join with the chair in opposition to the amendment.
