We have the strongest and best military in the world. Thanks to the hard work of Chairman McKeon and Ranking Member Smith, this year's defense bill works within budgetary constraints to ensure that our military continues to have the best people, the best training, and the best hardware. This bill guards against irresponsible cuts to pay and benefits. It improves readiness, and it provides our men and women in uniform with the vital aircraft, ships, and ground vehicles they need to fight and win today's increasingly complex battle space. We also included several bipartisan commonsense provisions that build on our important work last year to combat military sexual assault. We hold Russia accountable for its aggression against Ukraine and its treaty violations. Finally, we lay the groundwork for a comprehensive defense reform effort, including finding ways to stretch the taxpayer dollars for the defense of this Nation. I urge my colleagues to support this bill.
