I think a lot of us are feeling we do not quite understand what is going on down at the White House. The person in charge of the travel office, who is not political, gets fired because they want to put somebody who is political in the office; but the person who is political does not get fired. It seems to be kind of a double standard and a disconnect. So Senator Gregg is pointing out something that I think needs to be addressed. I just appreciate the fact that he is willing to allow, in deference to the Senator from South Carolina and those of us who feel it is important to go forward with the defense authorization bill, the opportunity to move forward with this legislation. But what is happening here is nothing more than what has happened to us. We have tried to move relevant legislation forward, and the Senator from Massachusetts and others insist on adding nongermane, nonrelevant amendments to every bill that the Republicans put on the floor.
