If we pass a prescription drug bill in the Congress to provide benefits for seniors in this country and we do not do something to make sure that they are paying a fair price for their product, then the taxpayers are going to be paying $360 for a product that you could buy in Germany for $60. Six times. I do not think the taxpayers want to be paying six times the price of a drug in Germany here in the United States. It would actually just bankrupt the United States Treasury in a few years if we did not do something about that. I am not for price controls, either; but I do believe that the marketplace ought to dictate the prices and a free market not only here in the United States but around the globe. The American people should not pay six, seven, eight, 10 times the price that they do in other countries. That is what scares me about the prescription drug benefit we are going to pass in this Congress this year.
