Might I simply join my friend and old colleague on the Finance Committee in his remarks commending the Senator from Louisiana. Typically, he did not mention his own work, his own role in this--it was indispensable--to have a unanimous Finance Committee in these matters and to make a point. It had been assumed there would be a storm of disapproval for what we did. There was none. There was none. The usual interest groups wrote the usual letters and the usual people took them too seriously. But a day will come when we have learned from this experience because it was an event. I thank the Senator.
