I feel that while the 2-week extension is urgent and absolutely indispensable, we ought to do more. And with the conclusion of this part of our debate, I will proceed, when the chairman is ready, to offer an amendment that would in fact extend us to the spring of 1997 when we have a new cycle in American Government and a new fiscal year.
