If I may add, the citizens of Tonawanda, through their elected officials, have engaged our offices and have asked Senator D'Amato and me to request that the Congress give direction to the Department of Energy in order to start the process towards removal and disposal of this waste. We both agreed that we would do what we could to relieve the town's burden. Now, Mr. President, this is a daunting task requiring many tens of millions of dollars. We do not believe for a moment that it will be easy. However, we are here today to ask the chairman's assistance with the next step.
