The New York Botanical Garden is in need of a new laboratory in which it will train graduate students and visiting scientists from this country and abroad. Their work is most important to the Garden's many efforts, but especially to the economic botany program. Senator D'Amato and I ask that when this bill goes to conference, the chairman and ranking member look for an opportunity to provide a $50,000 planning grant so that the New York Botanical Garden can begin the process of building a new laboratory.
