Let's dismiss the notion that we don't subsidize all other forms of transportation, especially air travel. If the private sector wants to take over air travel and pay for all parts of airports and everything that comes with it, then so be it, but that is not going to happen. The fact of the matter is there are many benefits from having a robust rail system that serves communities that would not otherwise have them. Mr. Chair, I oppose this amendment and urge my colleagues to join me in doing so. I yield back the balance of my time. The Acting CHAIR. The question is on the amendment offered by the gentleman from Pennsylvania (Mr. Perry). The question was taken; and the Acting Chair announced that the ayes appeared to have it.
