I would encourage my colleagues that, as we move on this debate, just for electricity cost, just for clean generation, nuclear power has to be part of the portfolio.
So a cost burden on us with no international constraint--the recent announcement by China just yesterday--will indicate that we will do this for nothing.
When I was going over the testimony and what we have gone--you know, the Congress and where we are at today, it was only 8 years ago that we were trying to move to a cap-and-trade program, and we were moving to national healthcare under Obamacare. Done poorly, the results were politically a change in Congress.
This amendment has not been submitted to the Senate for ratification by either the Obama or the Trump administrations.
