Political Quotes

He is a man who is straightforward and honest, a solid, upstanding, good-hearted person--a true Midwesterner. Tom is one of the hardest workers in Congress, setting an example we could never meet, being the first person in the office in the morning, and the last to leave. Tom's quiet leadership, friendly manner, gentle guidance and terrific sense of humor created a great working environment. He made sure that we all worked hard, but never took ourselves too seriously, constantly joking with and teasing us all. Staff always had a lot of latitude to work on their issues and projects, and the door to Tom's office was always open. He was always interested in our opinions and input, and tolerant of mistakes. We will always remember him as the ideal boss--a mentor, friend, and someone we could look up to and on whom we could depend. Tom considers his staff an extension of his family, and takes great interest in all that is happening in our lives.

I rise with concerns about the troubling pattern of legislating national chemical policy based upon emotions rather than scientific fact, including in this NDAA. I am referring specifically to certain anti-science, anti-practicality, and…
