Jesse Jackson Jr.: “I have got a great name, given to me by great parents. And I have got a great father who has a great legacy of public…”

I'm deeply outraged and disappointed in the reckless statements, which he calls divisive and demeaning, and says, 'They contradict his inspiring and courageous career.'

Former congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. will spend 30 months in prison after pleading guilty to spending about $750,000 in campaign funds on personal expenses. Jackson said he misled the American people but believes in the power of redemption.

I thought, mistakenly, that the process was fair, above board and on the merits. I thought, mistakenly that the governor was evaluating me and other senate hopefuls based upon our credentials and qualifications.

I've got a great name given to me by great parents. And I've got a great father who has a great legacy of public service.
