the gentleman from Illinois to the Committee on the Judiciary with the instruction that the committee immediately report back that resolution to the House with instructions that it contain our Democratic alternative.
I believe the Republican bill is unfair, it is unfair to the President, it is unfair to our country, and it is not in our national interest.
I urge my colleagues to oppose an inquiry resolution that does not say when it will end or what it will cover, and instead, support the focused, fair, and expeditious Democratic alternative.
The gentleman from New York concluded that the President has lied under oath, that he should be punished, but he should not be impeached.
