I opposed the bankruptcy reform bill that became law in 2005 for many reasons, but the overriding reason was that I believed it was a blunt instrument designed and pushed by powerful interests in the banking industry that would harm the most vulnerable Americans while achieving very little of the abuse prevention that was supposedly its purpose.
