(a) Definitions.--In this section-- (1) the term ``covered offense'' means-- (A) a violation of a Federal criminal statute, the statutory penalties for which were modified by section 401 or 403 of the First Step Act of 2018 (Public Law 115-391; 132 Stat. 5220), that was committed on or before December 21, 2018; or (B) a violation of a Federal criminal statute, the statutory penalties for which are modified by subsection (b) of this section; and (2) the term ``serious violent felony'' has the meaning given that term in section 102 of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 802).…
