I am sorry we were unable to reach an agreement today. The proposal which I am about to make, called the Protect Children of Immigrant Workers Act, simply ensures that children will not age out in this process. How many times do parents come to me with tears in their eyes saying: Don't hurt my child. Here is our chance, as we work out all the other issues, to take care of this one provision. It would not increase the number of green cards. It does not get into the other issues we have debated. I ask the Senator to please, for the sake of these children, give them the protections, and let us continue to try and negotiate the other provisions. I ask unanimous consent that the Senate proceed to the immediate consideration of my bill, the Protect Children of Immigrant Workers Act, which is at the desk; that the bill be considered read three times and passed; and that the motion to reconsider be considered made and laid upon the table with no intervening action or debate.
