Political Quotes

On the recordSeptember 3, 1998
I am particularly happy to represent a great State like Illinois. I am honored to be a Member of the Senate with my colleagues and, in particular, Senator Kennedy who, time and time again throughout his career, has taken this floor to speak for those who do not have a lobby in Washington, to speak for those who do not have a special interest group with a large political action committee. When Senator Kennedy comes to the floor to speak for the poor, for the dispossessed, for those who do not have health insurance and lack the opportunity many of us take for granted, I am honored in joining him.
