Mr. Speaker, every time this legislation has come to the floor, it has passed with nearly a huge bipartisan margin. It is clear the House understands that working seniors, people who have to earn money by the sweat of their brow, usually people who have earned money by the sweat of their brow their whole life, who have not been able to accumulate huge savings or investments or those revenues or huge pensions, that today they have to go out and work to supplement their pension, to supplement their Social Security so that they can have a decent life, so that they can help put their grandchildren through college, so that they can maybe go on a vacation or somebody pay their property taxes or even buy a new car. These people are affected by this bill. I am proud to be able to stand here today and say that those seniors will be able to make more money this year without paying a tax on work.
