As a Representative from the state of Illinois, I am very interested in this topic because my state experienced some of the same meth abuse problems as Chairman Bucshon's district and state.
Unfortunately, if the sequester continues, Illinois will lose about $3.5 million in grants to help prevent and treat substance abuse resulting in around 3,900 fewer admissions to substance abuse programs.
I look forward to hearing from our witnesses about how the Federal Government can help promote deep and long-lasting public-private sector collaboration in manufacturing.
We must adopt smart policies that encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, efficiency and investment in American manufacturing.
The American people are still focused on the fact that more must be done to encourage the creation of good-paying jobs in our country.
With that wonder also comes worry about the brain diseases that befall so many people, and that we all know could someday wreak havoc on our own lives.
As lawmakers responsible for making sure our returning servicemen and women are taken care of after they have bravely risked their own lives, we worry about the thousands who have returned from Iraq, Afghanistan, and previous conflicts…
I believe that it is valuable for the Members of this Committee to hear from experts who can speak to the roles of all key agencies, including DARPA and NIH.
