While I hope that all of my colleagues join me in supporting the scientific goals of the NEON project and are interested in seeing it put on a better path going forward, I know we share the goal of being good stewards of taxpayer money.

I want to focus on not only NEON but also more general lessons learned.

I hope to hear from our witnesses about the steps necessary to ensure that OPM meets FISMA requirements.

It's not acceptable for these data breaches to occur at OPM, anywhere else in the government, or in the private sector.

It will take a collective effort of both the public and private sector to improve cybersecurity.

Unfortunately, major cyber attacks are happening more frequently.

I have not received notification, but I believe I may have been a victim of this.
