We're only six days away from Memorial Day, and it's the busiest day of the year for me for public events in my district because of the importance my constituents and I place on honoring the men and women who serve in our armed forces.

I agree that the government has an important role to play in helping U.S. businesses lead the world in technology to address climate change.

We must take advantage of all the tools at our disposal.

We need to examine our approach to rebuilding infrastructure as climate change and other factors drive increases in the intensity of wildfires, hurricanes, and other extreme events.

The status quo is clearly not acceptable.

Much of the nation's major infrastructure is nearing or has passed the end of its design lifespan.

the other part that I wanted to ask about is the--what can we do as policymakers here in Washington to make sure that the United States maintains a strong position in producing in these materials?

These are long-term challenges that require long-term solutions.
