“I want to thank the ranking member. Mr. Speaker, preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon through sanctions and diplomatic pressure is one of the paramount issues of our time, and I am appreciative that today we will continue this important work to contain the threat. The bill before us seeks to expand the instruments available to the administration in implementing targeted sanctions against the Iranian Government, while at the same time providing flexibility to relieve undue burden on the population of Iran. I want to thank the chairman and the ranking member and the committee for working diligently on this bill, and I want to thank the members of the committee for joining me in support of this bill.”
