I am the president of all Americans, including those who did not vote for me. I have to consider what’s best for them, even the ones who don’t like me.

What’s being asked of us is make some effort to stand up for the things that you think are right.

Some of you know when I was growing up, I didn't have a father in the house. But I did have people around me, stepfather, grandparents, teachers, coaches and most of all my mother, who tried to teach me the difference between right and wrong, who showed me what it meant to be honest and responsible to work hard, to treat other people the way I wanted to be treated.

This is obviously not the outcome we had hoped for, given our profound disagreements with the Republican ticket on a whole host of issues.
