This President may occupy the White House, but for the last six years the position of leader of the free world has remained open.

I still believe that America is the last, best hope of Earth. We just have to show the world why this is so.

It is time to bring this conflict to a responsible end so we can bring our troops home and refocus on the wider struggle yet to be won.

I reject the notion that the American moment has passed.
