Barack Obama: “I call upon all public officials and people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate programs…”

At least one of our major parties has been captured by politics that is not that subtle about suggesting that ‘We the people’ means a certain kind of people.

We designed the center not to be some lifeless mausoleum.

It shows me somebody who’s not focused on the American people and the job they’re supposed to do.

I hope this center will serve as an affirmation of just how special, how precious our democracy truly is.
