Dr. Norman Borlaug truly is an American superhero and really not that many people have heard of him because he has worked very quietly behind the scenes. He has done great things but he is someone who does not seek recognition. His campaign to save the lives of the world's neediest people through agricultural science deserves this very, very special recognition. How many lives has he saved? Dr. Borlaug's innovative leadership in plant breeding and agricultural production is credited with saving the lives of nearly one billion people. That is right, one billion people.
