Tomorrow is tax day--the infamous April 15. Millions of Americans will be working through the night today and tomorrow working through the annual rite of preparing their taxes. For most Americans, it is a day they would rather do without. Nobody likes paying taxes. And filling out your tax returns is often not only time consuming and annoying but frustrating. People are frustrated not just over the amount of taxes they pay--they know we need to fund education, training, health, defense, and other things--but more because they feel they do not have any real control over how their tax dollars are spent. Well, legislation I plan to introduce will begin to change that. The Taxpayer Empowerment Act will put power directly in the hands of the American people by giving them a real say over how their tax dollars are spent. It says to the American taxpayer it is your money and you deserve to participate directly in how and on what it is spent.
