“Because of what has happened, and for our country, we speak of patriotism a lot, patriotism of our brave soldiers and airmen and seamen in Iraq and around the world, the patriotism of those in our country who fight for justice, fight for those less fortunate. Patriotism takes on a lot of different forms. I think Mr. Rumsfeld has to show some patriotism. He has to put the good of his country above his own self-interest and his own self-esteem. It is time for him to recognize that we need a new Secretary of Defense to change the policies and the programs that Mr. Rumsfeld instituted, that, as the Washington Post editorial said, led to this kind of a situation.”
