For these men and women, who earn an average of $28,000 to $40,000 a year and have families to support, those expenses add up, especially for new officers. This amendment would help provide a deduction for these people when they pay for those expenses out of their own pocket. Again, I thank Senator Grassley and Senator Baucus for being willing to work out this amendment.
