I thank my colleague from Louisiana for her leadership on this issue. We are all busy around here. We have our issues that we look at. I have other issues in my committee that I am so focused on now that I had not really paid attention to this until the Senator from Louisiana brought it up last week, and then I began to ask myself: What is this all about? The more I looked into it, the more devastating I found this piece of legislation that came from the House. I thank the Senator from Louisiana for having the foresight, courage, and determination to make sure we are all aware of what this legislation does. And, quite frankly, I commend the Senator from Louisiana for slowing this down. Since last week, I have talked to other Senators who had not really focused on it either. We have other responsibilities and duties, but the Chair of the Small Business Committee focused on this, and I thank the Chair for her great leadership on this issue. I hope we can adopt the substitute amendment to this bill later today.
