“I want to know if those on the other side who oppose this are going to offer an amendment that says, no; if a woman is seeing an OB/ GYN, if she is having a difficult pregnancy--this may be a specialist in whatever the difficulty might be. But then the woman's employer changes HMOs and drops the doctor. Right now they can refuse to pay that specialist. She would have to go to someone else and start over. Doesn't it make common sense that she should at least be able to see that specialist through the end of her pregnancy, the birth, and have that same specialist see her? That is common sense. I question out loud, will someone on the other side offer an amendment to disallow that? Fine, if they want to do that, if that is their opinion. I want to see how many people vote against something such as that. That is just common sense.”
