I thank my colleague and compliment him on his leadership on this bill and all aspects of the bill, on research on crop insurance and food stamps. I listened with some amusement to my friend and colleague from Texas talking about this issue, saying that it is principle, that he is doing this on principle. I know we passed the Balanced Budget Act last year in the Senate. That extended from 5 to 7 years Medicaid and SSI to the same refugees and asylees we are talking about. I do not recall the Senator from Texas then offering an amendment to strike it out of the Balanced Budget Act.
