Joni Kay Ernst is an American politician serving as the junior United States senator from Iowa since January 6, 2015. A member of the Republican Party, she is the first woman to represent Iowa in the U.S. Senate. Ernst has focused on issues such as agriculture, rural development, and veterans' affairs throughout her tenure. She has been an advocate for bipartisan efforts to address the needs of rural communities and has emphasized the importance of legislation that supports farmers and agricultural interests in Iowa.
I do hope that you reach out to rural legislators, Members of Congress, and receive input from our offices as well.
I have pushed for action on small arms modernization since I entered the Senate.
Every circumstance is very, very different, and making sure it is not one size fits all, I think is really important.
Well, this is a great discussion, so thank you to the panelists for being here today, I appreciate it.
So I think that is a disparity that we need to take a look at and reward those that want to stay and take on greater levels of responsibility.
Our current pay structure provides no financial incentive for our senior enlisted members to lead at the highest levels outside of the Joint Staff.
I appreciate that. And what we would like to see, of course, is a much more efficient process going through that and hopefully, then, less costly, as well, to do those projects.
