Mr. Speaker, H.R. 2820 transfers the ownership of the irrigation works currently operated by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. Over the last several years, the subcommittee has moved legislation that has defederalized several Bureau of Reclamation facilities in the western United States. This bill proposes to transfer all rights and interest to the irrigation works from the Bureau of Indian Affairs to the Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. Management of the facilities has been under the jurisdiction of the tribe for several years. Mr. Speaker, I urge an ``aye'' vote on this legislation.
