Yet, sadly when you have a unit that had served the longest combat deployment in Iraq and they come home and somebody at the Pentagon cuts their orders short by one, two, three, four, or five days, so they are ineligible for a $250 a month additional tuition bump under the GI Bill, it sends a horrible message.

I would say that the centerpiece of our work in the 112th Congress was passage of the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program as part of the VOW to Hire Heroes Act.
It is impossible to do with insufficient funds. And it seems to me when we are talking about taking care of our veterans, you can't talk about implementing a dramatic new change in the system itself and then keep going back and wondering…
The simple question is did this veteran leave this place better off or worse off...
