this is precisely the point that we are trying to make, and have been trying to make here in Iraq Watch, over and over again. By engaging as we are in Iraq right now, we are actually undermining our capacity to confront terror, whether in its most physically manifest form in Afghanistan or in the recruitment and the propaganda that is now sweeping the Islamic world with regard to whether or not America is now an enemy that must be fought at all costs. We are increasing the number of people who can succumb to that kind of message because of what we are doing in Iraq and what we are not doing in Afghanistan.
