The promise of NASA has not only been to the American people that we would lead the world in some of the greatest explorations that humankind has ever undertaken but that it would translate back home into advancement in earth sciences, advancement in education and an advancement in an area that is still woefully negligent which is the presence of women and minorities in STEM in general and, for that matter, in NASA itself.
