I say to my colleague from Connecticut that I believe that President Clinton, Vice President Gore, and others in this administration care deeply about environmental issues. Clearly the United States cannot resolve every environmental problem that exists in every part of the globe. However, under the circumstances, given the special relationship between the United States and Bermuda, it is particularly appropriate for the Secretary of Defense to study this problem and report back to the relevant committees. I will look forward to reading that report.
