I want to say aloha and thank you so much for being here today for the Committee's oversight hearing on Reclaiming Our Image and Identity for the Next Seven Generations.
All of us here in this room and the Committee staff, all will have to continue to educate our colleagues here in the Congress to know as much as they can about our indigenous people.
Overall, these policies of assimilation failed to meet the Federal trust responsibility to Native peoples.
