“Mr. Chairman, as has been noted, this amendment is substantially the same as the Homeland Security Information Sharing Act which was overwhelmingly passed and endorsed by the House last month. I was pleased to be a cosponsor of that bill. I commend the gentlewoman from California (Ms. Harman), the gentleman from Georgia (Mr. Chambliss), the gentleman from Michigan (Mr. Conyers), the gentleman from Wisconsin (Mr. Sensenbrenner), the gentleman from Connecticut (Mr. Shays) and the gentleman from New York (Mr. Weiner) again for their hard work on it. Timely and effective information is one of the most important tools in the fight against terrorism. Local communities need to be able to count on receiving that kind of information. This amendment will help in that effort, and I certainly urge its adoption.”
