By a show of hands, how many of you think it will be a terrible idea to allow the NFIP to expire?

In September, not only did Republican brinkmanship here in the House bring us to the verge of a government shutdown, but it also brought us precariously close to an expiration of the National Flood Insurance Program.

I condemn these efforts in the strongest possible terms and oppose the Department of Justice putting the American people’s safety at risk by taking away our country’s agents to assist in the President’s witch hunt.

TEFAP is too important for this Committee to discredit, as the program is a key driver for not only supporting the U.S. agricultural economy, but a tool helping people facing food insecurity and hunger.
