Jimmy Carter: “The purpose of the extension is to permit the lessees the additional time needed to drill an ultradeep well.”

This is a very wise and very courageous thing for President Obama to do. And in my opinion, is long overdue.

Without immediate action, we are at genuine risk of civil conflict and losing our precious democracy.

I don't think the administration has ever picked up the ball, much less dropped it.

I fear for our democracy.
