Carter says the animosity directed at the president over health care, the big bailouts, is being driven because Mr. Obama is a black man.

But, when a radical fringe element of demonstrators and others begin to attack the president of the United States of America as an animal, or as a reincarnation of Adolf Hitler, or when they wave signs in the air that said we should have buried Obama with Kennedy, those kind of things are beyond the bounds of the way presidents have ever been accepted, even with people who disagree.

This is a very wise and very courageous thing for President Obama to do. And in my opinion, is long overdue.

But among those who believe the case should be re-opened are politicians who don't always agree with each other, ranging from former president, Jimmy Carter to conservative former Georgia congressman, Bob Barr.
