It is almost inevitable that America's new leader will confront an economic crisis.
Later in the day, the President called the President-elect, thanked him again for the offer, and accepted his invitation to represent the United States.
There was no reason for us to become involved in Iraq recently. That was a war based on lies and misrepresentations from London and from Washington, claiming falsely that Saddam Hussein was responsible for the 9/11 attacks, claiming falsely that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. A decision was made to go to war, their people said, let's find a reason to do so.
I respectfully disagree with what President Bush had to say. I don't think that the safety of America depends at all on the extended presence of U.S. troops in Iraq.
