Jimmy Carter: “I think that this provides us a basis on which we can make improvements on the bill in years to come.”

Our great nation now teeters on the brink of a widening abyss. Without immediate action, we are at genuine risk of civil conflict and losing our precious democracy.

I don't agree with that at all.

But among those who believe the case should be re-opened are politicians who don't always agree with each other, ranging from former president, Jimmy Carter to conservative former Georgia congressman, Bob Barr.

All of us owe them our gratitude and respect.
